This week we are giving thought to sustainable and eco-friendly activewear.
Girlfriend Collective offers substance. Every part of their process is well thought out, starting with the raw materials, down to the facilities they work from, and the partners they work with.
“By focusing on human manufacturing, meticulous design, and sustainable materials, we want to create a community of people who care about every step of the process.”
Taking the extra time to ensure every single design is up to standards shows how much they care. Their mission is to ensure every piece will become a staple in every woman’s closet and offer substance to the consumer and not just become another flashy headline.
Girlfriend Collective sources their recycled polyester from Taiwan – once known as “Garbage Island,” and now a world leader in recycling. 55% of waste is being recycled and transformed into materials that can be used to make Girlfriend Collective’s leggings and bras.
The fabric that is used to make their activewear is softer and more stable than a standard single-jersey. The process to make their clothing requires much time and precision that their knitting machines can only produce 100 pairs-worth of fabric in 24 hours. They truly believe in slow fashion.
