Life throws a lot our way. Micromanaging every move we make and refusing to finally do those things that have been sitting on our to-do list for months can keep a heavy burden on our lives. We slowly become control freaks, always worried about what life will throw at us next. But we will be much more effective when we put our time and energy into the things we can control.
Fretting about everything keeps the mind occupied, ultimately leading to too much wasted time and a lot of energy put to waste.
But here’s a few things that will help lead to a more efficient use of our time:
1. Determine what you can control.
When you find yourself worrying, stop and reflect on what you have control over. Prepare for what’s coming ahead and just know that you can’t prevent everything from coming your way. It’s all about how you react to it.
2. Focus on your influence.
You can influence people and circumstances, but you can’t always force things to go your way. Focus on changing your behavior and be a good role model to yourself by setting healthy boundaries. When you have concerns about someone else’s choices, feel free to share your opinion about it but just know you can’t alter situations or people to your liking.
3. Identify your fears.
Acknowledging you can handle the worst-case scenario can help put your energy into something more productive. Know your limits.
