On this week's Thoughtful Thursday, we introduce you to Awearness, a campaign started by Kenneth Cole. Awearness is actually the title of a book that he published back in 2008 to share stories to inspire others about how they can make a difference. This past November, Kenneth Cole partnered with Men's Warehouse to ensure a portion of proceeds go to Hire Heroes, a non-profit dedicated to helping veterans and their spouses in order help them flourish in the workforce. Kenneth Cole in addition donates the proceeds to HELP USA. HELP USA gives permanent and transitional housing as well as drug and alcohol counseling, job training and placement, education and mentoring, and legal services to homeless veterans. By collaborating fashion and foundations, Kenneth Cole is able to use his brand an power to give back to these organizations.
Back in 2014, Kenneth Cole launched this bracelet collection with different hashtags plated onto them as shown in the picture above to raise awareness of AIDS/HIV . By displaying messages such as "Be Awear" and "I have Issues", Kenneth Cole is trying to provide consumers with a great product that they can wear knowing that 100% proceeds go to his foundation, which supports them and encourages continued volunteer efforts.
Purchasing with a purpose is an important message and having it demonstrated in fashion is a way to get involved and also show support for the charities you support and want to continue helping out. These bracelets can still be purchased online at Kenneth Cole's website and suits can be purchased from Men's Warehouse website.
Happy Thoughtful Thursday!
