Motivation Monday- Love Your Network

Alyson Campbell

As we continue discussing different important topics in our lives this month on the topic of love, today’s focus is on how to love your network, enjoy the company you keep, and be surrounded by like-minded people.

The saying, “ You are the company you keep” is an oldie but goodie. It is completely true in all aspects, so choose wisely. There are many ways to figure out if the right company in which to surround yourself.  For example, do you feel like you need to impress them to keep them around?  Do you feel like you need to always be there for them but don’t get that feeling reciprocated? Do they not motivate you to become the better version of yourself or tear you down to make themselves feel better? Take a step back and analyze who you're surrounding yourself with by asking these types of questions.

There is nothing more important in life than surrounding yourself with positive, like-minded, motivational people; people who want to see you do big things and want to be there every step of the way to support you. That is what true friends, colleagues, and a strong network looks like.

Throughout life, you will come across people who you think will stick by your side, but sadly, that isn’t always the case.  This is okay because it leaves room for you to meet the right people that will become your core foundational network.

A few ways to learn to love the people for whom you surround yourself:

1.) Get to know who they really are. Ask them what motivates and inspires them, and how they get through the tough times. If it’s similar to you, foster and cherish those relationships.

2.) Be their number one supporter. Once you’ve taken the time to get to know someone who is like-minded, champion them. In return, you’ll most likely experience the same. What an amazing feeling!

3.) Encourage each other: It is so easy to think competitively in the world we live in, but it’s not about the competition. Don’t let the petty things crush something good.
